Holding Patterns

Holding Patterns

He waits

for a woman he loves

to leave her husband.

I wait

to feel light enough

to love.

And so tonight

we lie together

fire-lit and laughing

running hands along familiar pathways.

There is no rush

in this sweet remembering

this slow celebration.

He knows where to kiss me

I know how to touch him.

Tomorrow he will go.

But tonight I trace

onto his body

a message, an incantation

Be well

Don’t go. Don’t go.

Tomorrow he will go

But tonight

we hold on

and wait together

for our own

And for another poetry fix:

  1. I feel this writing is walking a path towards needed health. And the spirit behind the message is seeking honesty and getting closer to it with each composed and written character of an alphabet. Certain souls can’t be silenced. ~Sonya
